It's still not dead. And many groups are pushing for a revival, myself included. The issue is complicated now, by people who have changed it's meaning to "men serving women", which is not something most of us would promote. Real chivalry is not dead, and people are too good by nature to ever really let it go. I was traveling through an area I was unprepared to travel through (I was a bit overly confidant as a teen) and wound up lost in lion country. Worse, I had a gash on my leg. Two girls from a village a few miles off saw me and helped me get to Their village. These people have no cars. They half carried me, the whole way, and I'm not exactly "travel size". (I must have been maybe 6'2 or 6'3 back then.) Their people helped me out, and even offered me food (which they were not exactly rolling in). Now I was actually in the poverty ranking in my country, but in theirs I wasn't, and white people have a reputation for being rich, but they never once tried to rob me or keep me hostage. Instead they helped me back to a safer area to continue my travels. (I'm not rich but I am connected. I have given back for their kindness to me :-) I was stranded in a floundering boat in a storm a few years before that. I wasn't able to get it close enough to the other boats for a tie. The national rescue team wasn't going out under those conditions. Instead, volunteers came out with their own planes and helicopters repeatedly to rescue me and the other ocean goers. My heroine was a former military flight instructor with her own chopper. (Several of the other heroines were her former students.) I was the 7th person she'd rescued that night. :-) Dead? Far from it. X-D Grappler: Chivalry had come to question long before feminism even existed. I read of one mention of the death of chivalry which dated back to the 13 hundreds. Even though chivalry was demanded of many back then, they were already complaining of the greed and unchivalrous mindset taking over the lords AND their people. However, I think societal changes are making it very rare to come across. I know for a fact that a lot of girls refuse to date the "good" guys as they are annoyed by the thought of being treated sweetly. There has been this shift in values that makes more and more girls cool or even happy with being treated like crap. There are a lot of sociological factors involved with this and I'm pretty sure popular culture has something to do with it. Good guys are out there, but they are never the high profile princes movies make them out to be. Honestly, it isn’t. However, I think societal changes are making it very rare to come across.
