I accidentally filed two tax returns?
I was comparing online programs to see which would be cheaper to file my taxes. I put in my credit card number in one of them but don’t remember confirming the payment. I left the browser open and left to find some papers. I came back to the computer and canceled the program. I then browsed around and made my choice that I would file through TAXACT. I completed the process through TAXAct and was all happy. However, I went to my yahoo mail and noticed that not only had TAXAct filed my return but the other program which I had canceled earlier had filed it as well. I am not worried that I am getting charged for both programs but the fact that two returns where filed. What is going to happen now???
both were almost same filings. The accidentally filed return had a refund of 328. The purposely filed return had a refund of 312 and I owed the state 3 dollars. Apart from that they were the same…
oh yeah, about the outcome, when i was preparing my second taxes I realized I had left out 1099 INT form, when I added it the refund amount changed and I ended up owing the state.
