How long until my credit score can be considered "good"?

I’m on a mission to straighten my credit situation out. My score right now is a 592. I recently just applied for and got accepted for a credit card that I’m going to make prompt payments on every month (paying in full) in order to establish a good credit history. I made settlements with all the credit card companies I owed so now even though I didn’t pay the amounts I owed in full, the balances I owe them are all at {content}. I also have a cell phone (verizon), homephone and internet (comcast), and car insurance in my name. If I make payments on time or early every month, how long until my credit score improves significantly to "good"? Is there anything else I should be doing? I don’t think I can get any type of loan so…
