There are several ways to establish personal credit and many do not involve generating permanent debt.
I will start for checking if your cell is out of contract, if yes then cancel and get one under your name (you can always port your existing number). Cell companies report to 3 credit bureaus.
If you plan to stay with your parents order cable or internet service under your name. Cable companies will only check that you have a valid SS number to issue service without any deposit.
Finally, open a bank checking account with debt card. This account will report to all credit bureaus and it's very likely that the same institution will offer you a good deal on a credit card over time (within 3-6 months)
If you can make payments on time on those 2 accounts and keep your bank account in good standing for at least 3 months, your credit will improve more than you think.
With these credit accounts in your record you won't have any issues finding a condo/apartment since most apartment complexes just make sure that you have some kind of established credit for the last 90 days minimum..
Stay away from store credit cards since the interest rate is always high
One more thing to do is to get a job since you not only want to show potential lenders that you pay your debt on time, but that you also have any form of income.
I will stay away from credit cards if possible, but if you really want to get a cc try to find one with 0% APR (Capital One is one of them)
Well good luck and I wish you the best.

Keep your debt to available credit ratio under 40% every month.
Don't make late payments.
Don't pay off all debts 100% every month.

The last one is a little weird so I'll explain: companies make reports to credit bureaus each month about your payments. If your account is showing a zero balance at the end of the month, it is not worth it for the company to report so they often won't.

What I do is charge whatever I want to my credit card, get the bill, and then pay it in full. I never charge more than I actually have, so if you can't get into that habit, try to find another way to get credit like your cell phone bill, cable bill, or whatever. I also don't really care about what my interest rate is because I always pay it in full. The trick is to not pay down your credit during the month, but to wait to pay your bill when you get it. The amount on your card at the end of the month will be reported to the credit reporting agencies. I've heard that you should keep it below 30%, but I keep mine below 15% of my credit limit. If you don't have a steady source of income, it might be hard to get a card, though. Your limit might start out at just a couple hundred dollars, so as you build credit you can request more. Just another side note, my friend got a Capital One credit card and she would never recommend it to anyone! Stick with one from your bank and don't worry about the interest rate because you should be paying it off every month any way. Good luck!

alot of malls you will notice there are people asking you to sign up for a free gift normally to visa or master card. you will fill out the application and once your approved they will start you out small for a limit say 100 bucks or 300.00 you will need to purchase items on it what kind doesn't matter the point being here that you ALWAYS PAY ON TIME AND IN FULL. never mind with the minimum payment stuff thats what they rather you do for interest purposes if you pay off your bill each month there not making money off you. But keep paying it off every month and never miss a payment . then they will send you a letter after 6 mths or so stating they have raised your limit to 500.00 continue going on spending but ALWAYS pay in full each month.

Now those dept./ store cards have a very high interest rate and many start charging the day the bill is due so if you make a small payment or miss a payment your toast you will fall into default and can be paying 25 to30% interest rates .

Hope this helps

Get a credit card from local bank and pay it in time. You also can use this service to avoid common mistakes while buiding credit and pre-estimate future scores for different scenarios of payments - credit-report-free.totalh.com
