Can my Wife's debt hurt my chances of joining the Air Force?

We have paid off both our vehicles, and I have a student loan under my name, which my parents said If I graduated they would pay for, so although under my name they will state they are responsible for it if needed. Otherwise I have a credit card under my name. That is the only true debt that I have under my name besides basic bills like cell phone and insurance and stuff.
But my wife has medical bills from hospital stays and things recently. We just had another baby right before I was laid off, and then she ended up have a hernia and needing surgery from a previous surgury, and medical bills have added up since I was laid of and had a hard time paying for them all. Some have gone into collections since we were not able to pay the massive amounts off, but we are trying to work on them, but it’s not easy. I recently found a job again but still want to join the Air Force. I know that under my name and SSN my debt to income is well under 20% and the AF says they want to make sure it is under 40% so I should be ok, but do they look up debt under my wife’s SSN and all that? We have 2 children and already know that we need to have a dependency waiver, which the recruiter said they would do, and I just need to score a 65 on the ASVAB test in order for them to process that. But I just want to know if that will affect me, or if they just consider whats under my name?
